It has been a busy month here at Smokey House as the leaves turn, drop, and blow away. We prepared some  amazing food, studied nutrition concepts, researched in the local cemetery, trailblazed around the pond, worked on botony and plant identification, began making a coat rack out of invasive honeysuckle branches, as well as a variety of garden tasks ranging from clearing new land to planting garlic for next year.

Stages of garlic planting:

Jake and Dillon turned the soil in a bed previously planted with basil and eggplants.

We add well aged compost to the soil for additional growth.

Plant the garlic bulbs 10 inches apart and 1 inch deep. Tamp the soil gently over them.

Wait for spring.
