A couple of weeks ago, I visited Hicks Orchard in Granville, NY. The owner, Dan Wilson primilary runs an orchard during the fall time. They have about 6 weeks to earn most of their income for the year. The orchard sells apples, apple cider and other apple products. During the other seasons he has a hard cider business. While I was there, I saw the hard cider machines. Dan explained the process. I also saw the apple cider machines. A lot more hi-tech then the one I used here at Smokey House! I went into the apple fields. They grow about 5 different types of apples. One amazing fact from there is that there were 1,600 dozens of cider donuts made and sold in one weekend! We visited another farm as well. Overall, it was a good field trip.
